Donald Hajek

CW2 Donald E. Hajek passed from this world on January 25, 2010 in Yuma, AZ of lung cancer caused from exposure to Agent Orange while stationed in Viet Nam. His exposure to Agent Orange occurred during the Tet offensive in 1968 when the VC tried to invade Mac V Headquarters., Donald was 78. His body was transported to his home in NE, and buried in the local cemetery in Grant, NE.

During the funeral his casket was draped with the American Flag and a local high school girl played TAPS. His military career began with the United States Air Force where he spent 16 years. Donald was a SSgt while assigned to the 579th Strategic Missile Squadron at Walker AFB, Roswell, NM. He left the United States Air Force to join the United Stated Army and finished his military career in the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer assigned to Military Intelligence duties. Donald returned to farming after his retirement, and was a well respected farmer in NE. The family requested donations to the NE Cancer Society in lieu of flowers and nearly $2,000.00 was collected and forwarded to them.
